Turn Off your Galaxy Tab for Recovery Mode: can be entered by pressing the Volume Up + Menu Button and keep holding both Keys to Power ON the device till you see the Green Robot on the screen : that's the Download Mode.
In recovery Mode, clear the cache and wipe the data then “Install Zip from SD Card’ and select the Jellybean 4.2.2 Firmware Package.
Once the device is updated successfully, the device will display “install from sd card completed”. Select “go back” and “reboot system now” for the normal mode. 5 – 6 minutes for rebooting the device as first time reboot.
Note: If the device gets into the boot loop sequence or gets stuck in welcome screen, just long press Power button and redo above instructions

Make sure USB Debugging mode is enabled on the device
- by navigating to Settings > Developer Options (if device is running Android 4.0 or later)
- or go to Settings > Applications > Development (if tablet is running Android 2.3 or earlier).
- Otherwise if device is running Android 4.2, then do the following:
- Go to Settings > About Tablet
- Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and select Build Number
- Tap on Build Number seven times to unlock or reveal the hidden Developer Options in tablet's Settings. Now, select the checkbox to enable USB Debugging mode under Settings > Developer Options.
It is advisable to root your device before installing the custom ROM, as rooting enables full-functionality on your device.
If the device is stuck at boot animation or results in boot loop issues after installing the ROM, then perform Wipe Cache Partition and Wipe Dalvik Cache a few more times before rebooting.
Allow the newly installed ROM to stabilise for five to ten minutes, before you start working on it.
If the Status 7 error pops up on screen, it could be due to an incompatible device being flashed, or a firmware related kernel might be missing (for instance, a Jelly Bean kernel is required for installing any Jelly Bean ROM).
